Massive Terracotta Water Vessel Shipibo Conibo

This large terracotta vessel was made by the Shipibo-conibo people of Amazonian Peru. This for of ethnogrphic art was generally completed soley by female members of the tribe. This art has been practiced for over 1200 years with each geoetirc pattern individual to the maker. Each womans pattern is an elaboration and expansion on that of her ancestors and throughout her life will remain consistant as an almost signature and reverense to her matriarcal line.
